The wisdom in hot chocolate 熱巧克力裡的智慧

A group of graduates, well established in their careers, were talking at a reunion and decided to go visit their old univeristy professor, now retired. During their visit, the conversation turned to complaints about stress in their work and lives.
Offering his guests hot chocolate, the professor went into the kitchen and returned with a large pot of hot chocoloate and an assortment of cups-- porcelain, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite-- telling them to help themselves to the hot chocolate.
When they all had a cup of hot chocolate in hand, the professor said:
Notice that all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken, leavning behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your prblems and stress.
The cup that you are drinking from adds nothing to the quality of the hot chocolate. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink.
What all of you really wanted was hot chocolate, not the cup; but you consciously went for the best cups. And then you began eyeing each other's cups.
Now consider this:
Life is the hot chocolate; your job, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain life. The cup you have does not define, nor change the quality of life you have. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the hot chocolate God has provided us.
God makes the hot chocolate, man chooses the cups.
The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything that they have.
Live simple. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. And enjoy your hot chocolate!

一群在事業上已有一番成就的同學相聚，最後決定一起去拜訪已經退休的大學教授。當他們到達教授家時，彼此閒聊的內容變成互相抱怨工作與生活上的壓力。
此時老教授由廚房端出一大壺的熱巧克力以及各式各樣的杯子，有瓷杯、玻璃杯、水晶杯，有些看起來不起眼，有些很昂貴，有些看起來非常精緻。他告訴這些學生不要客氣，自行取用熱巧克力。
當每個人手上都有一杯熱巧克力之後，老教授說：
「你們注意到了嗎？那些很好看、很貴的杯子都被你們拿去用了，剩下的都是一些便宜及不起眼的杯子。當你們很自然的想為自己爭取到最好的東西時，那就是你們問題以及壓力的來源。
你們用什麼杯子根本不會改變熱巧克力的本質，頂多是比較貴而已，而且常常這些杯子會讓我們看不出來裡面到底裝的是什麼。
你們要的是熱巧克力，而不是杯子，然而你們總是下意識的尋找最好的杯子。然後你們就開始觀察每個人手上的杯子到底是什麼樣子。
現在不妨這麼想想：
生命就像熱巧克力，而你們的工作、金錢、職位就像杯子，只是讓你去過你的生命的工具。你手中的杯子無法決定或改變你人生的價值。常常，當我們只注意在看杯子的時候，我們就忘記好好享受上帝提供給我們的熱巧克力。
上帝準備熱巧克力，而人類選擇杯子。
最快樂的人並非擁有全部最好的每件事，他們只是盡力將自己的生命過得最好！
過得簡單，不吝惜你的愛，深深的關心其他人，和善的說話。然後，好好享受你的熱巧克力！」
